centro can just mean "where everything is at" A highly concentrated urban area would be called "un centro urbano"
residia should not be improperly translated as lived, however it should be resided (of course).

Thank you very much for your answer. It was accurate and useful !!! I had to think about it before finally taking it. The context was an article written from a B.I.D. member that was discussing the state of the latin american agriculture before entering the new century.
