En un certificado de notas de una universidad encontramos las notas numéricas, las notas alfabéticas y una sección así:

NOTAS ESPECIALES
I- Incompleto: aplica cuando el alumno no haya podido cumplir....
IT - Incompleto total: aplica cuando el alumno....
P- Pendiente: aplica cuando para cumplir todos los requisitos del curso, solo le resta al estudiante la presentación de una prueba final que no pueda cumplirse en la fecha fijada o cuando no pueda asignársele una calificación antes del `plazo determinado.
PE- Pendiente especial: aplica a aquellos estudiantes que se encuentran desarrollando su correspondiente proyecto de grado y que no ha sido concluído dentro del semestre inicialmente establecido.
PD- Pendiente disciplinario: aplica a aquellos estudiantes que se encuentran vinculados a un proceso disciplinario.
