city declared/named World Heritage Site

Explanation:
My coleagues are right but if you need your tranaslation to sound more "official" then pay attention to the following:

UNESCO = United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization

UNESCO encourages the identification, the protection and the safeguarding of the cultural and natural inheritance throughout the world considered as having an exceptional value for humanity.

The cultural inheritance relates to the monuments, sets of constructions and sites with values historical, aesthetic, archaeological, scientific ethnological or anthropological. The natural inheritance relates to the formations physical, biological and geological remarkable, the surfaces of an exceptional value from the point of view of science, conservation or natural beauty and the habitats of animal and vegetable species threatened.

Official title of the sites awarded this prestigious status is: World Heritage Site. Ther is now such a thing as "World Heritage City" in the UNESCO documents. (My hometown was declared WHS a couple of years ago).

The document by which the status is awarded is called the "World Heritage Certificate"

2.1.2 City of World Heritage (UNESCO) / Magistral - mba
... birthplace of Manuel Azaña, perhaps the most intelligent Spanish politician this
century. All this has earned the city the category of World Heritage Site. ...

Hope this helps.
