Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Spanish term or phrase: convocatorio
Dear Colleagues:
I am translating a college transcript from Spain. The headings read, "convocat. 1" It is followed by "Convocat. 2" and "Convocat.3" Is this convocatorio, and if so, what is the best rendering in English? Does this refer to a grade or grading period? The student's grades appear in the column directly below this heading.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Sincerely,

Douglas S. Divers, III

English translation:Exam period is correct,
Explanation:
The way I understand ig, Spain (and a good number of other countries) let you have additional tries to pass the exam. If you fail or miss the exam the first time around (1ra convocatoria), you can catch it the next time that same exam comes around (2da, 3ra convocatorias).

Según mi novio:
"convocatoria se refiere a los examenes. Cada convocatoria corresponde a una época de examenes."

Sounds to me like an examination period.
