Spanish term or phrase: becerros
This appears in a very informal, full-of-jargon letter from Mexico. The writer actually spelled it 'vecerros' but I don't think the word exists with this spelling. Here's the sentence:

él sacó $60,000 de sus becerros (vecerros) y cuando iba a comprar la parcela, no más tenía $46,000.

Is this some colloquial Mexican expression for savings, or is he saying that the guy actually got $60,000 from selling his calfs/young bulls?

Hi Laura,

The phrase "él sacó $60,000 de sus becerros (vecerros)" means "he earned $60,000 from selling his calves" It is not a colloquial expression for savings.
It seems like the guy lost some money in the process.

Best luck,
