Hi Paula,

Qué inusual palabra.

anfractuous (n): sinuous or circuitous
anfractuosity exists as an adjective but I'd be reluctent to make a plural noun of it.

¿Podría provenir de "La Piel Fría"? No me suena la frase, pero me recrea completamente el ambiente...

Suerte y sonrisas,

...between the convolutions of its calloused, scaly skin

"anfractuosities" does in fact exist, in anatomy, to denote the convolutions of the brain, and appears in that context in 2 of the following links:

NB, I was tempted to use "anfractuosities" itself, but decided that this would be too obscure for the English audience.

However, if the text commonly uses such unusual vocabulary - perhaps for an exotic effect, or to make some other point - then I would use it. Especially if the word is as unusual in the source language as it is in the target language.

ERROR: Instead of "and appears", it should read "whch appears".

Another possible reason to use "anfractuosities" might be if the text is being deliberately pompous, perhaps for an ironic or comic effect...
