stuck togehter Explanation: during the time I worked for the export meatpackers, many times the clients claimed the IQF (Instant Quick Frozen) meat pieces arrived precisely "stuck together". Hope this helps! :) |

packages frozen together; packages adhering to one another Explanation: I don't think there's a technical term for this. Nor does "pegotes" look like anything technical, for that matter. I've looked at a number of frozen mussel web sites, and, essentially, the content says that they pack their mussels in the stock from cooking the mussels." When you freeze food that way, moisture is certainly likely to get on the outside of the packages, and if they are frozen stacked, some of the those are going to stick together. and when they are at 0oF, they might as well be glued together. I know--I've got a bunch of those packages in my freezer right now, because I ran out of room to freeze them separately. It is a real pain in the neck to get them apart: I've had to resort to pry bars on a number of occasions. I've also tried throwing them against the concrete wall in the basement. lump-stuck, sticky lump Explanation: The term is not related to mussels or freezing by itself. This term is not technical but colloquial. Plasterers when using sticking tape and the tape sticks to itself forming a sticky mess of unusable tape, they say it is a "pegote" (from the word pegar-stick-) I would use lump-stuck or sticky lump |

clumps Explanation: It sounds as if perhaps what is frozen together may not be the packages, but the little critters themselves "Pegote" is not a terribly technical-sounding term, so how about plain old "clumps," or just "frozen together (into clumps)?" just another option |
