Este parámetro geotécnico es el porcentaje de testigo recuperado en trozos mayores de 10 cm. ****En las formaciones pizarrosas es muy fácil que los testigos se rompan por los planos de esquistosidad ante cualquier golpe en su manejo,**** por lo que es muy importante distinguir las roturas debidas a discontinuidades naturales y las debidas a la propia estructura pizarrosa o a la manipulación de los testigos

I know that testigos means 'samples' but could they also be 'drill', given that this could be damaged (rompan...golpe...manaejo...manipulación)?

OR am I missing something?

In any case, since the criterion is that they be larger than 10 cm., it seems logical that (core) samples that break would be smaller/shorter than the required length. Since you are (still!) dealing with schistosity, it seems quite likely that core samples would be quite easily damaged/broken.
