Buenas:

Estoy traduciendo un texto sobre artes marciales del español al inglés y aparece "En este caso, si pretendemos excedernos en la penetración, esto es, encogemos mucho la pierna en el momento de hacer contacto para luego tener un mayor recorrido al estirarla, puede que nos encontremos con que la masa a la que golpeamos ofrezca mayor resistencia que nuestra fuerza de empuje. De esta forma, no podremos golpear con eficacia e incluso “ahogaremos” el golpe".

Me han dicho que "ahogar el golpe" es cuando buscamos una gran penetración tras el impacto, pero al final vemos que no podemos vencer toda esa fuerza opuesta y el golpe queda “ahogado”.

¿Alguna sugerencia para ese "ahogaremos el golpe"?
