Spanish to English translations [Non-PRO] Tech/Engineering
Spanish term or phrase:FINO
lA GRANULOMETRÍA DEL PRODUCTO INDICA AVLORES DE FINOS QUE PRESUMIBLEMENTE SE PIERDEN DURANTE EL PROCESO DE SECADO EN HORNO
Explanation: This does not refer to monetary fines, or 'multas'.
This is what I found in my Diccionario para Ingenieros. FINOS appears only in the plural form and is translated as 'fines'.
To further illustrate, also found this on a US Army Environmental Technology website:
"Munitions manufacturing processes may generate nitrocellulose (NC) fines. Disposal of these fines is difficult because of their reactive nature. Composting has potential to be a safe and cost effective means of disposal."
This is what your translation is referring to.

Explanation: The translation of "finos" depends on the product. Granulometry refers to a vast range of products, from stone to chemical powders. It also refers to (1) the grain size of disgregated poroducts or (2) the grain size of intact products, e.g. fine-grain granite. I found "fine grade", "fine grain", "fine quality" ...
