CV Joint Explanation: In my experience with my cars, I have learned these terms due to problems with these parts in Tampa and Puerto Rico. This is the term used in the general mechanic vernacular. |

CV joint... Explanation: A universal joint, used especially in front-wheel drive cars that allows power to be transmitted from a transaxle to an axle or from an axle to a wheel even at sharp angles, as when the suspension moves up and down. Also called CV joint. Luck! |

CV joint = junta homocinética Explanation: CV joint = junta homocinética. Used in this area and also in my glossary, this is still another different part. You really need to see a drawing or consult (may not be possible, I know). The term "punta de eje" has two distict translations but neither one is CV joint! Rear end axle Explanation: Greetings from Venezuela. For your information, in my country a "Punta de eje" refers to any of the two rear end axle shafts (as shown in the web reference below), whereas a Constant Velocity Joint is a part related to front-wheel drives and is not referred to as a Punta de Eje, at least not in Venezuela or Colombia.
