Hi Proz,
This is a translation about a cement factory, the sentence says:
Riesgos cubiertos: Fuerza centrifuga, pero solamente la perdida o dano sufrido por desgarramiento en la maquina misma (does not say exactly which machine).

Hi Jenette!
"Desgarrar" has so many meanings, but, checking the Beigbeder Polytechnic Dictionary, I'm positive that it applies to "damage resulting from rupturing/tearing/splitting of [or within] the actual machine [or, the machine itself].

As you say, we don't know what "machine" they're referring to but, I think you are fairly safe with my answer...unless you get better ones.
