Spanish term or phrase: Transmision: automatica de 4 velocidades al piso
What does the "al piso" part mean? Why would you specify that a transmission control is located on the floor, or does it mean something else?
Brent Turnipseed
English translation:explanation below
Explanation:
I believe it refers to a gear box situated on the floor/ground of the car as oposite to near/by the stearing wheel (which is nowadays very rare but still exists). Its the only explanation that seems to make sense to me

Please see this reference where you find "en el piso":

Hope it helps!

Thank you for the explanation, and to all others. I knew what it meant more or less from my own driving experience. It just sounded odd to me to say "on the floor."

Floor shift

Explanation:
We are talking about a "four on the floor" as it was called some time ago.
So, AL PISO means that the gear shift is ON THE FLOOR, i.e.it is a FLOOR SHIFT.
