Spanish term or phrase: El patín se retrasa...agarres...desmoldeante...improntas...patillas
The context is a table indicating defects in die-cast metal pieces, their causes, effects and recommended remedies. There's not much context.

One of the defects is that "El patín se retrasa." This results in a "pieza fuera de tolerancia."

Another defect is "agarres en la móvil ['tears in the movable part???]'," which produces a "pieza mala: la rugosidad interior es funcional." The causes of this defect are diagnosed as "falta de desmoldeante, molde muy caliente." Is the "desmoldeante" a DEMOLDING LIQUID?

Another defect is "erosión excesiva en el interior de las cavidades." A recommended remedial action is "aplicar nitruro de cromo a IMPRONTAS." What are IMPRONTAS? Can this be translated IMPRESSIONS?

A final defect is "piezas con defectos de fundición o mal rebarbadas." The recommended remedy is "controlar zona aletas 100%," and the expected result of this action is "detectar piezas con defectos en la zona PATILLAS." Are these PATILLAS pins, bars, or something completely different?

Explanation:
"El patín se retrasa" = "The base [or shoe, or skid] is retracted (i.e., it has shrunk away from the mold." "Base" is the most general equivalent of "patín," and therefore probably the safest. Although the stricter meaning of "retrasar" is "to be delayed, retarded, or slowed," a looser rendering is justified by the result of the retraction or shrinkage, i.e., a "pieza fuera de tolerancia" = "a part that is out of tolerance" [or "out of spec," as engineers would say; that is, it doesn't meet the tolerance specifications.]

"agarres en la móvil" = "Seizing of the moving part"
which produces a "pieza mala: la rugosidad interior es funcional" = "defective part: the internal roughness has a functional effect" [that is, an effect on the part's ability to function properly].

"falta de desmoldeante, molde muy caliente" = "Because of the lack of mold-release agent, the mold is very hot"

"erosión excesiva en el interior de las cavidades" = "excessive erosion of the recesses [or "cavities"]."
"aplicar nitruro de cromo a IMPRONTAS" = "apply a chromium nitride (CrN) coating to the convex portions of the casting mold"

["Chromium nitride (CrN) Coating: Designed to perform under conditions of high load. This single-phase coating has a very low residual stress level, resulting in the best adhesion and ductility…"; see the web site below.]

"piezas con defectos de fundición o mal rebarbadas." = "parts that have casting defects, or that are poorly de-burred"
"controlar zona aletas 100%" = "100% inspection of fin areas"
"detectar piezas con defectos en la zona PATILLAS" = "detect parts with defects in the lug area" [or "area where the lugs are located"]

These "patillas" consist of protruding portions of the metal castings. Absent context, "lug" is probably as safe and general a synonym as you're likely to find in English.

Thanks for a fast, convincing and elegantly worded response. While I worked for years as a technical
translator in an aluminum plant near Pamplona (Spain), we were involved in the manufacture of extrusions,
cables and rolled and converted products. We did very little casting, and none involving molds. That's why your help
was invaluable to me. Having passed the customer's test, I now have 8,000 more words to translate from the same document.

Explanation:
S:= Spanish
E:= English
I would say:
---------------------------
S:"El patín se retrasa."
E:"The skate lags"
S:"pieza fuera de tolerancia." :
E:"part out of tolerance"
S:"agarres en la móvil" "
E:"tears in the movable part" <= OK
(It means tears in the movable part of the dye = molde)
S:"pieza mala:la rugosidad interior es funcional."
E:"bad part: the inner rugosity is functional"
S:"falta de desmoldeante, molde muy caliente."
E: Lack of demolder, dye very hot"
S:"desmoldeante"
E: Demoulder (DEMOLDING LIQUID OR POWDER) <= OK

S:"erosión excesiva en el interior de las cavidades."
E:" excesive erosion (or cavtation) inside the cavities"

----Remedial...
S:"aplicar nitruro de cromo a IMPRONTAS."
E:"apply chrome nitride to the LUMPS"

What are IMPRONTAS? Can this be translated IMPRESSIONS? No, IMPRONTAS are the lumps used to lubricate the produce the interior of dye.

S: "piezas con defectos de fundición o mal rebarbadas."
E: "parts with casting defects or badly deburred"

The recommended remedy is
S: "controlar zona aletas 100%,"
E: "control fins zones 100%,"
and the expected result of this action is
S:"detectar piezas con defectos en la zona PATILLAS."
E:"Stop the defective parts in the zone of the side wiskers"
Are these PATILLAS pins, bars, or something completely different?
Patillas are SIDE WISKERS

With compliments! Good luck!

Hey! Chek the Chrome compound, I am not sure about.
