aero-derivative gas turbine
Explanation:
A surprising number of military vehicles use the same types of motors or engines. For instance, some heavy armored tanks run on the same engines that power helicopters, with the sole difference lying in the type of gearbox to which the engine is linked.

Pratt & Whitney (whose motto is "Dependable Engines") is a very long-established and well-respected aircraft engine manufacturer, whose engines have been adapted for other applications.

"The FT8 turbine is based on an aero-derivative Pratt & Whitney turbine..."

In answer to your question, I can't confirm absolutely the existence of "aeroderivada" in Spanish, but the 8 Google hits (including the second one below, with which you are no doubt familiar!)* seem quite plausible.

Hope this helps,
HC

Heathcliff, Thank you very much for your explanation. I now understand the term, thanks to you. It arises from the fact that the gas turbine was "based on a commercial aircraft engine (PW8160) now being developed...". I found this explanation in quoted website. ¡Gracias!

Explanation:

David
