Explanation:
If the first responder's web page image is correct for your context, then that thingamabob, in American English, is called a "cotter pin". I don't want and Kudo points. I'm not used to translaters helping each other out for for some sort of personal gain.

Walt, I am sorry to say your answer is correct. Thanks also to Maria for providing a picture. The correct word in Spanish is "gupilla" and not "cupilla". I found it after checking the word "cotter pin" in my English-Spanish dictionary. You may ignore my points if you like.
