Spanish term or phrase: "cantera" de la santería
From a description of Holy Week in a small Andalusian village:

"....cuando vea como las calles se llenan de multitud de pasos de miniatura, llevados a hombros por la "CANTERA" de la santería el sábado posterior a la Semana Santa."

From the context I believe it refers to children carrying the small images. Quotation marks are in the original. LaRousse gives one definition of "cantera" as: "Institución de ámbito local o regional que forma y aporta personas con talento para una actividad: es un joven futbolista de la cantera."

English translation:future generations of "santeros"
Explanation:
My only hesitation is that "santeros" in the U.S. is widely associated with the Afro-Cuban traditions. However, this is the terminology used in Spain in this context as well.

My only hesitation is that "santeros" in the U.S. is widely associated with the Afro-Cuban traditions. However, this is the terminology used in Spain in this context as well.
