Spanish to English translations [PRO] Tourism & Travel / habitación doble y matrimonial
Spanish term or phrase:habitación doble y matrimonial
Muchas gracias.
"Habitación doble" normally just means a room for two people. It can have two single beds or one double bed. Sometimes I've been asked which I want when booking an "habitación doble".
Here, however, they are distinguishing between "habitación doble" and "habitación de matrimonio". "Habitación de matrimonio" must surely mean a room with a "cama de matrimonio" (I'm quite sure it doesn't refer to a bridal or honeymoon suite, and apart from this hotels don't have special rooms for married couples as opposed to unmarried ones; nor, for that matter, do you have to be married to sleep in a cama de matrimonio). So it's a reasonable assumption that "doble" is being used in this particular context to mean a room for two people with two single beds rather than one double. I don't think there's any more to it than that.
