agree  Maria Boschero: La jineteada es el acto de domar un potro cerril o salvaje. Un rodeo es diferente ya que los jinetes además de amansar un potro, tratan de enlazar ganado vacuno con sogas.

agree  Adriana de Groote: En este caso, sólo tu primera opción o "breaking-in a horse". No es sólo montar a caballo, sino domarlo. Pero si se refieren al espectáculo, tal vez sería mejor dejarlo en español.

in Arg. / Uruguay / Paraguay / South Brazil
basto = one part of (gaucho's saddle = recado)
