dolomite
*1*White, gray, brown, or reddish calcium magnesium carbonate mineral CaMg(CO3)2, commonly crystalline.*2*Carbonate rock composed chiefly of the mineral dolomite, similar to LIMESTONE but harder and heavier. Dolomite formations are widespread and are notable in the region of the Alps called the Dolomites, where the rock was first studied.
