Constant (Real) Dollars: Observed dollar values that are not affected by general price
inflation. Typically used during FS cost estimating to compare relative prices over time.

Las normas de cambios internacionales permiten libertad en la fijación de tipos de cambio para transacciones tanto en el mercado cambiario formal como en el informal. El dólar estadounidense es la principal moneda que se cotiza en Chile y las tasas de las demás monedas están generalmente relacionadas con la del dólar. En la actualidad, existen las siguientes tasas de cambio para el dólar:

• El tipo de cambio formal, cotizado por los bancos e instituciones financieras. Diariamente, el Banco Central publica el tipo de cambio promedio observado en las transacciones en el mercado formal o interbancario (\"dólar observado\"). Este es el tipo de cambio \"oficial\" para el pago de impuestos y derechos de aduana.

• El tipo de cambio informal (\"dólar informal\"), cotizado en la Bolsa de Valores de Santiago

• El tipo de cambio \"Acuerdo\" (\"dólar acuerdo\") , fijado por el Banco Central. El \"dólar acuerdo\", es utilizado por el Banco Central en un número limitado de operaciones propias. En ciertas transacciones interbancarias, el Banco Central puede variar la tasa en hasta un 3.5%. Este porcentaje aumentará gradualmente hasta llegar a un 5% el 31 de Diciembre de 1998.
