Spanish term or phrase: oleaje
y normalmente lo que nosotros hacemos es que salimos nadando desde la costa, a aproximadamente 100 metros, no más, en aguas muy tranquilas, puesto que es una bahía, o que se hace bahía de Cochinos; o sea, no hay oleaje, no hay rompiente, y entonces.

'Oleaje' es diferente, da idea de un mar algo bravo

En inglés/português: swell (vaga); surge (encapelar-se, encapelamento?); surf* (arrebentação)

* no el deporte, sino el origen del nombre para el deporte - te dará una idea visual, porque se habla del tipo de olas necesarios para hacer 'surfing', es decir, algo más que 'ondas' normales.
