Thanks Cynthia. The client said this: Vi brukar kallas conservation officers vilket är den rätta titeln i UK. Ibland kallas vi conservationist of built environment

"Building conservator ... " answer analyzed The term "antiquarian" probably wouldn't work in a building context, because an antiquarian works with antiques. (See definition at http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=antiquarian.) That leaves "building conservator" or "restoration architect."

"Conservator" probably isn't the best term either, because a conservator, typically employed at a museum, library, or historical society, is involved in the conservation of objects. The term "objects" might conceivably include buildings but carries a strong implication of something much smaller, such as a rare book or a work of art. (For details, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservator_(museum).)

Finally, we are left with "restoration architect," which is the term I like best. Numerous others seem to like the term too, because just now I found 42,900 Google hits for it, as opposed to 2,100 for "building conservator."
