Swedish term or phrase: anknytningsperson
I'm not quite sure about the term "anknytningsperson" in this paragraph about immigration status restrictions:

Is "anknytningsperson" the person who is seeking improved immigration status (or for whom an improvement is being sought)?

Or, is it the person whose immigration status is being used to *support* giving improved status to a close relative (via family reunification rules)?

Thanks

agree  Cynthia Coan: This is currently a hot topic here in the USA, where some people are calling for an end to so-called "chain" migration.
