Folkskolan (Elementary school) Explanation: Folkskolan seems to refer to elementary-level schooling. However, the term can't really be considered as applying to all elementary-level school instruction; rather, it was a specific type of elementary school limited to a certain time period. On that basis, my incliniation would be to retain the original Swedish term in the translation, either including the English qualifier afterward or perhaps including an explanatory note. |
