national negotiations Explanation: Hello I've seen Deane's answer and Charles' remark. I think you do find Deane's answer on English speaking sites but perhaps not UK sites so much. So, if the asker doesn't want 'central'? -that's the word that surprised me too. Well, my first reaction as an Englishman (UK) would have been more along the lines of 'national negotiations' but that only works if the context makes it clear that we are talking trade unions.
