calculating Explanation: Don't think it would be considered an idiom. I think it's simply math. a person calculating pressure jobs... ... and need not spend time calculating productions where they are... |

calculating on Explanation: I think this means he was calculating on getting the job. (= He expected to get it, or reckoned he had good chances.) Norstedts Stora svensk-engelsk dictionary gives foreman, overseer as the English for a faktor at a tryckeri - i.e. a print shop or printing works. A lot is done by DTP nowadays, but the ink still has to be transferred to the paper by mechanical printing presses for large publications! |
