Here's an entry from a mining dictionary: "Hodding A method of moving coal or iron ore in thin seams usually carried out by a young boy pulling a box on sled runners (a hod) by means of a leather strap attached by both ends on the front of the hod. A slit was made in the middle of the loop of the strap and the boy put his head through the slit and the strap rested on his shoulders when pulling the hod along. Used in the Forest of Dean coal and iron mines"

The "fatare" load the ore onto "malmfat". These are not barrels (tunnor), more open and flat - picture here https://digitaltmuseum.se/021026330369/malmfat. I'll try to think of a word for the "fatare", but the terminology is so specific, as well as archaic - perhaps a UK mining museum might give ideas?
