moire
Explanation:
After some research on the net I found that "vattring" is some sort of process where a certain kind of fabric pattern is created. In English this process/pattern is called moire. In addition, it seems to be used to describe the pattern of bird's feathers.

In my opinion, "moire" doesn't seem to make much sense in this regard. Is it possible it is misspelled?

First take a look at this link (this is the translation of the word)

This is from NE.se:
vattring

As I was reading through my answer it occurred to me that "vattring" could be used as a synonym for "mönster" (pattern - in english) in this regard. That would make more sense, wouldn't it? // cbk

No, I found the definition in a Swedish-English technical dictionary: segregation (plas).
So I gave it a low priority.
