I wonder how to translate the word "akademi" in this context.
Could be "educational institutions"? Should it be more specific e.g. colleges or universities? I think it should be a general expression because there are several types of educational institutions.
The word appears to be used in the sense of "academic activities" here. It's in a list of other words indicating different types of activities: utbildning, forskning, entreprenörskap, innovation. None of these words refer to associations of people, places or types of institutions.
This use of the word is untypical but is probably just a calque based on English "academia", which is often used in a similar sense.
Academia vs. "den akademiska världen"; it's important to think about the fact that one can't translate terms back and forth without penalty.
Poster Anna Herbst has noted that translating "academia" back again fails, but then translating that result back to ENG would yield and even more terrible result, and so on.
I think "academia" is appropriate here, due to the fact that it's been separated from "utbildning", signalling that this is outside that term. "Academy" or "institutions" is too wide, and doesn't communicate the original text's meaning, in my opinion.
