As per sangam quoetes mandral is having the above menaings as for as I heard and searched. and if u could give the source it would enable me to search for the meaning acceptable to the situation

Note added at 2003-12-25 06:45:08 (GMT)

I took this meaning from a dictionry for sangam index. and the very word is used in two places in sangam literature with either one of the above as the meaning. With he above disagreement I will reply later as I need to do some wok on it

wide street

\"manRal\" means \"marriage\" or \"wide street\" or \"good smell\".

In the context of the poem stated above, \"wide street\" appears most appropriate because the given line of the poem refers to the beauty of the "manRal", the handsomeness of the Lord's image (madan vadivu) and the endless music pouring out of the flute
("kunRAta vEyin isai vaDivum ...").

Possibly the poetry describes the scenario of a procession where God's image (uRchava murthy)is taken around.
