Kadıköy/KADIKÖY Explanation: this is a district in istanbul; ancient greek name khalkedon or chalcedon -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-06-19 20:56:28 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Correct Turkish spelling is as above; the letter you probably see as a \"y\" is peculiar to the Turkish alphabet and if you cannot type it you can use \"i\" instead; and so is the \"ö\", that is, it\'s not an accented form of the letter \"o\" but a separate letter and is available in some Western keyboards. If you cannot type it either, then you should type the name as \"Kadikoy\", it is NOT a correct Turkish spelling, but most people would understand what it is. |
