Ukrainian to English translations [PRO] Education / Pedagogy / results transcript
Ukrainian term or phrase:молодшого спеціаліста
What is the meaning of this phrase? It is found in two sections on two different results transcripts. The context is as follows:
Тип (вид) програми: освітьно-професійна програма підготовки молодшого спеціаліста
Попередній документ про освіту: диплом мол. спеціаліста...etc.
Clearly it is some form of educational qualification, but I'm not sure what it equates to in English.
While I don't see why the functional equivalent - Associate degree - can't be used, if the document is translated for submission to an embassy or a college that deals with international students from the post-soviet space not the first time, they have seen the 'Junior Specialist Diploma' many times by now and know what degree it corresponds to in their country. And in most cases, such docs prefer the closest to the original word for word translation, even if it causes a lot of confusion and headache for the holder sometimes.
to leave it as it is ("Junior Specialist"). If needed, it is always possible to join a confirming document from a consulate, Ministry of Education, internet and so on, explaining the meaning in an official way.
