Hello, I am working on a Word file (Office 2007 but I saved the file as compatible with Office 97-2003) with Trados 2007 and a special programme for some special macros requested by the client. See more Hello, I am working on a Word file (Office 2007 but I saved the file as compatible with Office 97-2003) with Trados 2007 and a special programme for some special macros requested by the client. I defined HideTWBExt as External text and HideTWBInt as internal text in the TM setup Non-translatable Text Tab, according to the received instructions. But, when I pretranslate the document with the provided TM the external tags (necessary for the macros to create the proper document format) of the file get automatically eliminated as if they were considered track changes. Therefore I am forced to correct them manually, which is quite time-consuming. Has anybody any suggestions? Thanks in adavance ▲ Collapse

TagEditor did never consider tags as anything else as they are. Could you please check that? Translating in Word is really a bad idea.

Did you change anything, ie. the Word version? Sorry, but if you wish to continue in Word I have to stop here. I have no idea how to proceed in Word. In my case I would simply have opened the text in TagEditor and not are about the tags, as this is what the program has been designed for: work with tags.

I actually downloaded a new version of the client programme. I will try and use TagEditor to make a test anyway. Thanks a lot for your reply.

In TradosWB, go to Options > Translation Memory Options… > Tools and uncheck all boxes under ‘General options’. The style is possibly considered an ‘unused style’.

Strangely enough though, if instead of pretranslating the document I just go through it with the TM open, no tags are eliminated! For the time being I'm bypassing the problem this way...

and most certainly the culprit is there. Please check, if this also happens, when you store the document as rtf and pretranslate this rtf file. Maybe you could also use a different Word format. But altogether I would simply stop using Word under any circumstances.
