another missing option Nov 30, 2011

I chose a good book but, depending on what time I finish the project, I might prefer to do some housework! Right now I have a huge ironing bundle and no chance to do any for another day at least, big job in progress ....

Missing option Nov 30, 2011

Yes, missing option, I go to the local beer joint. I also go on days when I haven't had to work so hard, but it feels better when I've done a lot of work.

A hot bath Nov 30, 2011

AND playing with my cat.
Both activities relax me, and I might take a long walk the following day.

Lots of different ways... Dec 1, 2011

Tonight was yoga - very good for unwinding - but tomorrow night I have a dance class and then there's badminton on Mondays. If I've no activities planned, I always find it relaxing to cook after I've been slaving away over a hot computer, and then I might watch something on TV and finish off with a long soak in the bath. The dog gets her main walk in the middle of the day, but that's certainly good destressing time too. Reading tends to get left until I go to bed - often a bad idea, as I end up ... See more

Reading tends to get left until I go to bed - often a bad idea, as I end up reading well into the small hours - not ideal when you're due to work again the next day. Last night I was finishing "The Help" however, and I just couldn't put it down - a brilliant book....Collapse

workout Dec 1, 2011

If it's during the day I go to the gym for a workout or, depending on time of year, an after work bike ride.
If it's evening, i just relax with mindless tv....

other, lots of the above Dec 1, 2011

depends obviously what time of day it is when I finish but feed and play with the cats has to take precedence, then, either a long walk or other activity, then a bath (if late) and a glass of wine, TV, bed and book or (if early) shower and up to the pub followed by TV, bed and book. (Like Claire, I do most of my reading in bed these days and try to avoid pageturners so I'm not awake all night!)

After a long job I like to get my eyes away from the computer for a while but, if it is shorter, then a spot of Kudos might also be in order after cats and walk.

Other Dec 1, 2011

Spending time with my husband. For whatever reason, spouses continue to be seriously neglected in our polls. Pets, children, friends - what about the poor husbands and wives?
(See also the poll from two days ago - scheduling vacations. No spouses mentioned.)

Cat and dog Dec 1, 2011

As I cannot take away my mind from the project (at least for some time) and I continue to think how to improve it, my cat and my dog are the first option. They are always available, no matter the time or day. Happy pets, better translation.

My favourite musician first Dec 1, 2011

The first thing I do immediately after I've finished a translation is put on some music by my favourite musician, Paul Weller. After that, it can be cooking while listening to him of course, going out with my husband (yes, you're right, Nicole), sleeping, cleaning the house, dancing, playing the guitar, etc.
