Subtitling workshop from 14:30 Jan 13, 2015

Dear colleagues,

I would ask you to let all of us know here what you plan to bring to the auberge espanol. Not surprising for Bègles, I will prepare some accras de morue and a chocolate cake, and will add a bottle or two of wine.

Dear colleagues,

I would ask you to let all of us know here what you plan to bring to the auberge espanol. Not surprising for Bègles, I will prepare some accras de morue and a chocolate cake, and will add a bottle or two of wine.

Before the dinner, we will have a workshop, in which we'll create English subtitles for some short videos in the framework of an internship program for a humanitarian organization, Solidarités International. The videos are available at http://www.aiderplusloin.org/ ; they are a bit insolent and funny, which makes the task fairly challenging. I feel these videos lend themselves particularly well for group work: while native speakers of English may be able to identify what could work best in English, native speakers of French will be of great help to identify nuances of the original. If you feel like joining us for this activity, please let me know. We'll start the workshop around 14:30 and finish between 17:30 and 18:00. The auberge espanol part starts around 18:00.

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Feel perfectly free to invite further colleagues and your partner.

Best,
Attila

I'll be there :-) Jan 13, 2015

Hi Attila,

I'm new to the world of translating, so I'm looking forward to Saturday. I will bring a rice and tuna salad (how exciting!) and some wine. I'm hoping to be able to make it to the workshop as well - are we working on the three videos, or just the first two?

Looking forward to meeting everybody,

Aideen.

@ Aideen Jan 13, 2015

Hi Aideen,
Great, looking forward to the tuna salad!
We will probably form groups of 4 or 5, and each group will work on one video. (There are actually 5 videos.) The primary aim is not to be productive but to get a chance to think together and get to know each other through a collaborative excercise.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday,
Attila

Hi Attila Jan 13, 2015

I'll bring a loaf of homemade bread, some wine and some cheese. Not sure if I can make it for the workshop as I have family commitments in the afternoon - but will come as soon as I can.

Mark

Apart from translating... Jan 14, 2015

...the common denominator so far seems to be wine - sounds good

A late hello Jan 17, 2015

Looking forward to meeting you all today. I have some work to do today so I'm not sure that I will be able to make the subtitling workshop - sadly. I think that's a brilliant idea. I'll try to come as soon as possible though, if that's ok.

I've also not quite worked out what I'll bring along for food. I was thinking about a prawn cocktail and something sweet... I will update before I get there (though I know it slightly defeats the purpose to only let you know at the last minute).

Hi! I would like to participate to this event! I am based in Bègles Nov 17, 2015

Hi everyone!

I am a new part of Proz's members (Oct, 2015) and I have just discovered this event which was took place last Jan, 2015.

That's a pity!

I would like to participate to this kind of event and meet other translators based in Bordeaux region.

If someone organizes the event in Bordeaux, I would be happy to meet all of you!
