Probably not Mar 6, 2015

I watch this space and several others that interest me, and I actually read the newsletters some of my clients send (or at least the ones that are not totally inane). This lets me know a bit about trade fairs they have been to among other things.

I attended a lecture on machine translation some weeks back - and I keep an eye on it but do NOT use it. "Know thy enemy" was my motto at the start!

It is a bit random, but I see checking news here and there as a good way to find intelligent clients or an interesting way to spend a coffee break without spilling my coffee.

I do not know what "translation industry news" actually are. Can anybody give me an example?
Thanks.

Huh? Mar 6, 2015

It is actually a treat to see a different tack on the survey today. They've been getting rather droll lately...

Translation industry news: Say what? Mar 6, 2015

These news run the gamut from Cherokee children learning Korean in some isolated American town to Wordbee (a web-based CAT tool maker) acquired a plug-in maker to improve XML filtering.

Some European outlets, such as http://www.translations-news.com/, may cover general translation news that might be useful to most of us readers.

Several translators run their own blogs with news on the translation field. Beware, however, of self-appointed translation gurus who write like The Daily Mirror to bring attention to their skewed views.

To some extent, yes. Mar 6, 2015

If you try to read too much news, you surely won't get much work done.
I try at least to keep up-to-date on who's who, new trends, CAT tools and other technologies, etc.
