Could you please recommend a good collection agency. A friend is having problems with a company in Wales.

I can tell you one to avoid (in the UK) if you'd like to contact me privately. They were expensive and ineffective.

Your friend can skip the collection agency and make a claim through Her Majesty's Courts Service. Info here:

It is considered a small claim if the amount is under £5,000.

You are entitled to claim the money owed, plus 8% interest and the court fee is reimbursed if the claim is successful.

My partner has used this service twice and has had good results both times. If your friend hasn't already done so, he or she should send a Letter Before Action by recorded delivery, stating that the company has 14 days to pay or he/she will begin a claim against them. ▲ Collapse
