Crystal Samples   I live in Mobile, Alabama and have just been waiting for a powwow close to my area. I think a 3-hour drive to NOLA is doable.
XTARJOMEH GAR  \"Photographer\" \"Host\" ...  n
Monika Coulson   How are you guys doing after the hurricane Katrina? I hope you ALL are safe. Please let us know if you are OK. My family and my church are praying everyday for the hurricane victims and displaces people there. My house is open for anyone (Poolesville, MD)  n
MLG   My family and I offer not only our prayers but also our home to anyone that might need somewhere to go. Share this invitation with anyone that might be able to use it. God bless all of you! (Of course they must be willing to relocate to my state CA)  n
Henry Dotterer   Wishes from Syracuse  n
Ulrike Judkins  \"Photographer\" 1) Are you still going to hold it in NOLA. 2) As a former New Orleanian/Metairie resident, I wouldn't know how to deal with seeing it after Katrina. 3) I am very new to online translating, how could attending the powwow help me?  y

Welcome to NOLA Aug 14, 2005

Hi, Crystal,
You just made my day. We, meaning Corey and I, were feeling a bit lonely. As we get closer to the date, we can work on details. For the time being, let's keep in touch.
Regards,
Margarita

How are all of you? Aug 29, 2005

I arrived to Houston yesterday after a 9 hour drive. Asides from being exhausted, I'm feeling emotionaly wasted but wanted to send you a note to let you know I've thought about you.
Un abrazo in this very long night,

Hurricane Katrina Aug 31, 2005

Margarita, I'm glad to know that you made it out OK. I stayed in Mobile with my family and we are fine. just some minor propery damage (blown down fence, a little roof damage, etc.) There's no electricity yet, but they are working hard to restore it, and some of my relatives in town already have there tlectricity. I won't be returning to work any time soon because I work at a shipbuilding company in the downtown area, which was flooded pretty badly.

I'm still in Houston Sep 2, 2005

Everything is OK: meaning we made it to Houston on time and in the best conditions: friends opening their homes, lots of love around us. We don't know a word about our house, but what the heck, we'll start all over. After all, do you know of a better prevention treatment for Altzheimer? (We are 60 and 70 years old).

Hello All! Sep 2, 2005

I got out of N.O. safely. I am currently in Houston, and am staying with some wonderfully generous and warm people who I just met yesterday (when I arrived). My family has lost all of their homes, most likely, and will have to start over. We are all scattered across several states, staying with friends/acquaintances until we figure out what the next step is. My dad was one of the "die-hards," and stayed behind in N.O. for the storm. There has been a sighting of him (fourth-hand report), but, from this account, he refuses to evacuate. He has lived his entire life in a five block radius, running the family newspaper that his grandfather started in 1890. He simply cannot bring himself to let go, apparently. We are all extremely worried for him, seeing as conditions in the city are worsening progressively. What's certain is that if this experience doesn't kill him, my mom will when she sees him again (for not leaving with us)!! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Best of luck and strength in fighting through this. Let us know if you need anything. I also have some space in Syracuse, New York, if any of you wind up this far north.
