I am originally from Morelia, Mexico, a city in central Mexico. I hold a bachelor's degree in political science, and a Ph.D. degree in Hispanic studies, with specializations on literature, and cultural and urban studies. I have translated manuals for the U.S. Justice Department, manuals and bylaws for real estate developers, general and technical manuals for various companies, as well as official letters, birth certificates, and school transcripts. I have translated several short stories published by Chicano writer Miguel Méndez. I was also the co-translator of a medical manual for knee replacement patients. Additionally, I have been a consultant on several large translation projects. Although translation is not my principal professional occupation, I enjoy it as much as my work as an academic.
