I was born in Tehran, Iran to an Irish Father and a Persian Mother. Language has been a huge part of my life ever since I was a child when in order to insure that I spoke fluent Farsi and without accent, my mother insisted on speaking to me in Farsi only, while my father spoke to me in English. There is no better experience than that of everyday immersion. I went on to study six years of latin and seven years of French. I have lived in France and so have had the added benefit of constant practice. Reading and writing come easily and this is a talent I have had for a long time but failed to take advantage of. I am looking to find small jobs at first to get back into the swing of things.

Rates are Dependant on:
complexity of the subject matter
(would any additional research, and to what extent, be required on the part of the translation team, because the subject is uncommonly complicated or unique?)
document format attributes
(are there complicated graphs, flowcharts, any pictorial elements with text, lengthy and/or elaborate tables?)
software tools required to build the final translation product
(is there a need for desktop publishing software packages or sophisticated drawing utilities?)
general quality of the original
(is this an electronically available source, or a hardcopy - a published material, a clear / not so clear fax copy, a handwritten document?)
project size
(does the translation volume allow for a discount?)
turn-around requirements
(is the assignment to be completed on a rush basis?) |
