Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Mete Tural and I am interested in working as a Translator/Interpreter. Turkish is my mother tongue and I am also fluent in English and Swedish. I was born and brought up in Istanbul. Between 2001 and 2005 I lived in England and after that I moved to Sweden, where I live at present. I gained experience as a translator in England at a Turkish community webpage, www.eyya.com, where I translated advertisements and the other contents of the website from English to Turkish. In Stockholm I worked as a translator for a company called Stardoll AB, which runs a web forum focusing on fashion and entertainment for young people. The majority of the translations consisted of advertisements, and articles about celebrities, fashion and fashion designers. Here in Sweden I also translated a fairy tale from Swedish into Turkish, which was published together with other translations of the tale. It was a project for Lund Cathedral, and the tale is being sold to tourists visiting the cathedral.
I enjoy working as a translator and I would like to develop my skills further in this field. For me, translating texts is like solving a puzzle. I have got a wide range of vocabulary in Turkish, English, as well as in Swedish. I read a wide variety of texts and follow the news in all three languages.
I received my Bachelor degree in Archive Administration from Marmara University in Istanbul. The Bachelor also included studies in Turkish Language and Literature, Ottoman Turkish, and History. In 2005 I finished a Master course in International Business Administration at Bournemouth University in England. My education and work experience gave me profound knowledge of the terminology in areas such as history, literature, politics, economics, business, marketing, and fashion.
In 2007 I worked as a Sales Executive at Avalex Ltd in Stockholm. My main duty was to sell conference seats to Finance and Treasury Managers at Turkish companies, and I also acted as interpreter in conversations between the Sales Manager and the clients. Last year I taught Turkish to Swedish students with Turkish background.
My work experiences have taught me to be self-disciplined and organised. I am used to working with deadlines and I always try to deliver the best quality.
At present I am open to project offers which would help me develop further in the area of translation.
Yours Sincerely,
Mete Tural |
