Conveying the source message as legibly and enjoyably as possible has been my goal. This is the personal goal I have persistently pursued in my years as a translator, transposing auto industry texts, press releases in many fields, and even scientific abstracts aimed at wider audiences into English. In a world of intensified communications, the text has to win and hold the attention of an audience to have a lasting impact, no matter what its subject may be.
I have never missed a single deadline. As a freelancer, I also maintain a high standard of ethics: trying to take jobs from agencies I work for is not my practice. As I see it, agencies provide me with a service as well, freeing me up to concentrate on the style of the final product.
This is not to imply that I don't enjoy direct customers. :-)
