My name is Katarzyna Wedolowska and I come from Poland. I came to Great Britain three years ago and I am currently living in Hull, East Yorkshire.
I have a Bachelor's degree in English Philology; therefore I am fluent in speaking, reading and writing. Moreover I am entitled to work as the teacher of English.
I have been working for Global Accent Interpreting Services since March 2008, translating documents and interpreting in various places like: hospitals, health centres, Job Centres, prisons etc. I also do the telephone interpreting. At the beginning of 2009 I have been working for Language is Everything, Language Finders and Hull City Council.
I love what I am doing , I find interpreting very rewarding and fulfilling but also exciting and challenging. What is more, I have always wanted to work with people in order to help them in difficult situations that occur in life.
I have approximately over 350 hours of the official interpreting experience but I have been unofficially helping friends, family even strangers from the moment I arrived to the United Kingdom.
In addition, I am a reliable, responsible, ambitious and very hard-working person. I have strong communicative and organisational skills, which are essential for this position as well as a friendly approach towards everybody. I understand that impartiality, confidentiality and sensitivity are crucial in this job as people entirely depend on the interpreter and his abilities.
I work very effectively with minimum supervision, using own initiative but never underestimating colleagues or supervisors’ advice as well as I am always prioritising my work to meet expectations and deadlines.
Furthermore, due to the fact that English is not my first language I am extremely focused and serious about my work, always trying to improve my skills and broaden qualifications.
Lastly, I would like to mention that I have 150 hours of teacher’s practice at primary and secondary school level which was a part of completing my Bachelor’s Degree as a teacher. I have passed my practice with distinction, simply because I enjoyed working with children and teenagers very much.
To sum up, I am a very easy-going and open-minded person, who wishes to continue work in the interpreting services as I strongly believe that it is the profession that I am most suitable for and I believe that my experience and passion make me a good interpreter.
