I have a degree in Combined Sciences, majoring in Biochemistry. During my studies, I spent a year working for the Université de Compiègne in their enzymology/immunology research unit. Following graduation, I worked for a French pharmaceutical company in pre-clinical and clinical trials for seven years.
Once I started a family, I decided to work part-time from home, and so I began working as a medical and pharmaceutical translator. This has been, so far, very successful and I enjoy it immensely. I have been translating for 10 years.
I also work part-time in a local primary school teaching French to 3 - 11 year-olds. It's great fun and very different from translating.
I am married to a lovely French chemist, who also works in the pharmaceutical industry and we have three delightful children.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, walking, cycling, swimming and keeping fit.
Oh, in case you're wondering, the photo is of myself when I was about 18 months old; it is also my first memory - a very happy day spent on the beach in Wales.
