I am a freelance Spanish > English and Portuguese > English translator, specializing in legal and political texts.
I received an MA in Translation (Spanish & English) from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in May 2006. I work for the Open Source Center, translating Latin American news items on a variety of topics, including politics, international relations, economics, and development. I also translate personal documents including birth, marriage, and death certificates, as well as personal correspondence and medical reports.
In addition to translation, I also provide editing and proofreading services. I have experience editing medical and political translations, as well as proofreading court transcripts.
I am a native English speaker and received my education in English. I lived in Mexico City for five and a half years as a teenager and spent a summer studying at the Universidad Internacional Menendez Pelayo in Santander, Spain. I recently spent a year studying Portuguese at the Universidade de Coimbra in Portugal.
