English to German (Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association / Cumann Aistritheoirí agus Teangairí na hÉireann) German to English (Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association / Cumann Aistritheoirí agus Teangairí na hÉireann)
I am native bilingual (father German, mother British) and also speak Spanish and a smattering of Slovenian.I have been translating for over 20 years now and still marvel at the fact that I can learn something new every day. I am a voracious reader and a meticulous researcher. My favorite subjects to translate are marketing (I find it fascinating how cultural expectations and viewpoints differ and how sometimes not a single word from the source makes it into the translation to nevertheless convey the meaning perfectly), IT (I am a very logical person and read up on latest developments in IT and software all the time), technology in general (again: very fascinated with technical progress, which makes me a good translator of patents as well as general technology texts), but also book translations: mostly fiction, with a sprinkling of self-help and more.I have founded a small translation agency in Spain mainly for tax reasons, but also to promote the work of some excellent colleagues with outstanding translation skills in various EU language combinations I have gotten to know and trust over the years. All ENDE translation and transcreation work will still and always be done exclusively by me. I am very passionate about quality and timeliness and most of my customers have been ordering from me and my colleagues for many years.I am a great believer in efficiency, which is why I rely on Trados Studio 2017 and memoQ for all my work. I am a quicklearner and could get used to working with any customer or proprietary productivity software as needed.
