North Herts Guild of Singers
The North Herts Guild of Singers, based in Hitchin,
Hertfordshire, is one of the best known and best-supported
choral groups in the North Hertfordshire area. The Guild, which
last year celebrated its fiftieth year, has a membership of about
150 singers and is a non-auditioning choir where members all
share a common love of choral singing. It has a wide repertoire
ranging from popular oratorio and opera to smaller, less
familiar works. The choir performs four concerts a year, often
using St Mary’s Church, Hitchin along with other venues in
North Hertfordshire. Concerts earlier this year have included
Bach’s St John’s Passion and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. The
Guild has sung Verdi’s Requiem Mass and Berlioz’s Grande
Messe Des Mortes with local choirs in the Royal Albert Hall,
London. Over the years, the choir has had very enjoyable tours
abroad visiting Seville (Spain), Nuits St Georges (France),
Bingen (Germany) and Bruges (Belgium).

est l’une des chorales les plus connues et les mieux soutenues
dans la région du North Hertfordshire (Hertfordshire du nord).
La chorale, qui l’année dernière a célébré son cinquantième
anniversaire, compte environ 150 membres-chanteurs et est
une chorale sans auditions dont les membres partagent tous
une passion commune, celle du chant choral. Elle possède un
vaste répertoire allant de l’oratorio populaire et l’opéra, à des
œuvres bien plus petites et moins connues. La chorale donne
quatre concerts par an. Plus tôt dans l’année elle a notamment
présenté La Passion selon Saint Jean de Bach et la Carmina
Burana de Carl Orff. Au fil des années la chorale a effectué des
tournées à l’étranger, notamment à Séville (Espagne), Nuits St
Georges (France), Bingen (Allemagne) et Bruges (Belgique).
