"Saya tak mau berpura-pura tahu banyak soal pandangan politik Gordon Brown. Saya pikir saya memilih untuk tak memedulikannya. Tapi saya penggemar berat gambar pergerakan van," kelakarnya.

The changeover of British Prime Minster from Tony Blair to Gordon Brown did not apparently escape the attention of Andy Roddick. Yet, the US tennis player considered it hilarious.

Yesterday, Wednesday (27/6/2007), was Blair’s last day at the official PM residence, number 10 Downing Street. British television competed to cover the departing moments of the ally of George Walker Bush.

Roddick is one of perhaps millions of people in England who witnessed the event. But why did he laugh instead?

“They took pictures of the moving van, following it down the street until it was lost from sight. I thought it was hilarious,” said the third ranked tennis player in the world as quoted by Yahoo Sports.

Roddick said he had never seen coverage like the English media in his home country. "Maybe our television should begin doing this too. It would be very amusing”, he said.

However it seems that Roddick only cared about the lighter side of this extraordinary political event in Britain. As proven when asked his opinion of the new British PM, the former boyfriend of singer Mandy Moore chose not to say much.

"I don’t want to pretend to know much about Gordon Brown’s political views. I guess I choose not to care about them. But I am a serious fan of that moving van footage, “ he joked.

Suami

Dua sahabat duduk di meja bundar.
Minum kopi.
Mereka berbagi cerita tentang suami masing-masing.
Yang satu bilang bilang suaminya tak tahu diri,
semakin hari semakin lupa usia,
bergaya bak orang muda.
Yang lain berkata suaminya semakin menampakkan usia.
Sudah tua. Mulai pikun. Pelupa.
Berdua mereka tertawakan suami masing-masing:
Lelaki yang sama.

Alkisah 1

Cepat, cepat, larikan aku !
Selagi suamiku berburu, bawa aku keluar hutan,
pulang kembali ke istanaku. Begitu aku meminta.
Tetapi kau mempelai kakakku, katamu.
Kepadanyalah cinta harus dicurahkan, katamu lagi.
Lalu kau pergi. Mencari kakakmu yang suamiku itu.
Aku, kau biarkan di sini, di tanah berumput,
terkurung dalam lingkaran.
Ketika raksasa itu menyambar, aku berteriak !
Ah, akhirnya aku terbebas juga dari suamiku.
Kakakmu.
Rama.
Alkisah 2

aku bisu tujuh hari tujuh malam.
memintaku membawanya pergi. Lepas dari kau.
Tetapi tiba-tiba saja ia lenyap dari sisimu :
dilarikan raksasa. Aku menangis.
Ah, akhirnya doaku terdengar.
Kau kembali jadi milikku, Rama.

Alkisah 3

Husband

Two friends sitting at a round table.
Drinking coffee
They share stories about their respective husbands.
One says her husband does not know how to behave,
he’s forgetting his age more and more,
acting up like a young man.
The other says her husband is showing his age more and more.
He’s grown old. Getting senile. Forgetful.
They both laugh at their respective husbands..
The same man.

Once Upon A Time 1

Quickly, quickly, take me away!
While my husband’s hunting, take me out of the forest,
back to my palace. That’s what I asked.
But you’re my brother’s bride, you said.
Love must be showered on him, you continued.
Then you left. Looking for your brother, my husband.
Me, you left here, on the grassy ground,
imprisoned in the circle.
When the giant pounced, I yelled!
Aha, free at last from my husband.
Your brother.
Rama.
Once Upon A Time 2

You won the competition and the princess was the prize.
When you married her the entire country rejoiced,
I was dumb for seven days and nights.
In this forest, while you were hunting, she was moaning,
asking me to take her off. Away from you.
But suddenly she vanished from your side:
carried off by the ogre. I wept.
Ah, finally my prayers have been heard.
You are mine once more, Rama.

Once Upon A Time 3

“The time has come for you to sell me to them.
Take the money they give for your supplies,
as you flee to your country across the sea. Don’t be scared or sad,
for what you did accomplished what has long been destined.”
He followed that order. But why wasn’t his heart at peace?
At the fig tree he decided it must all end.
Thousands of years later his master is praised as the saviour
and, he, Judas, is the traitor.
