I have been educated both in the U.S. and Japan (primary school and graduate school in Japan, secondary school, college and law school in U.S.) and have native fluency with both English and Japanese. I have 5 years of experience as a freelance Japanese/English interpreter, translator and proof-reader/checker in Tokyo. I also have 20 years of experience as a bilingual California attorney representing Japanese companies doing business in the U.S., during which time I had communicated, both orally and in writing, in English and Japanese on a daily basis, had frequently interpreted during business meetings, negotiations, conferences, legal hearings, depositions and trials and had translated, reviewed and edited countless business and legal documents from English into Japanese and vice-versa.
I specialize in translating (including reviewing and editing translations by others) Japanese business and legal documents into English. Examples of such documents include correspondences, memorandums, corporate articles, bylaws, minutes, contracts, leases, deposition and trial transcripts.
